After matric, I studied at the University of the Orange Free State where I obtained a B.Com degree in 1971. I then joined the Free State Provincial Administration as Administration Officer: Alienation of Land.
From 1974 to 1979 I worked as regional sales manager at Milborrow and Company (Pty) Ltd, after which I joined Hoechst-Marion-Roussel Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd as Specialist Medical Representative. There, I progressed to Regional Sales Manager and eventually National Sales Manager (1987 to 1997).
In 1998, I was appointed as Managing Director of Squabb Technologies (Pty) Ltd, a position I held until 2014. I currently work as Specialist Consultant: Laser and Laser Optics at PaR Systems (Pty) Ltd.
I am a results-focused management professional offering more than 46 years of experience in senior-level leadership for start-up, early-stage growth and national operations. I am recognized for my ability to incorporate innovative management techniques, systems, processes and procedures to enhance business practice, increase productivity and boost revenues. I also believe I have a talent for forging strong relationships with key decision-makers and channel partners.
I got married to Palmina in 1974. We have three sons, Ivan, Sergio and Marco, and three grandchildren, Isabella, Matteo and Luca. We reside in Pretoria.
