After matric, I went to the Navy as a diver. Played for the Navy’s under-20 rugby team.
From 1970 to 1974 I studies law at the University of Stellenbosch and played Maties under-20 rugby. I also captained Simonsberg’s rugby team and served on the house committee.
In 1976 trou ek met Dalene, ook ‘n oud-Matie, saam met wie ek in 1978/79 vir veertien maande in Europa en Australië toer.
Van 1979 tot 1985 het ek as prokureur in Pretoria gepraktiseer. In dié tyd het ek die Comrades-marathon en twee Two Oceans-marathons voltooi.
Ek verhuis na George waar ek vir dertig jaar gepraktiseer het as prokureur.
I did the Argus Cycle tour in 1990 and retired from squash after playing league for fifteen years. I took up golf at age 57 and otherwise do a lot of travel, hiking and bird watching. I also do property management and farm with export proteas.
Ek het twee dogters, ‘n seun en vyf kleinkinders.
